ANOTHER WORK IN PROGRESS : a step by step approach to my work
an oil painting on canvas, called
" Threshold "
dimensions 50 x 70 cm
'Threshold' is now featured in the wonderful Yearbook of Visionary Art 2010/2011 by the excellent Otto Rapp
Step 2
Further into the previous idea, I am trying to concentrate on maintaining an idea of movement and stillness at the same time, it's time to define the lines of force.
Step 4
Giving weight to the structure through secondary lines and hints at the 'threshold' , where abstraction and figuration merge and divide.
Step 6
An abstracto-figurative world has emerged, the antagonism of white and yellows has been preserved, and to complete the painting, I want to see how the addition of complementary colours build yet other subtler characters on the division line.
Final Painting
This painting will be the basis of the poster of my next show at the University of Nancy, France where you will be able to see it for real... as we shouldn't forget in these digital times that paint is matter and is best seen in intimacy ;)
"Nothing to worry about" oil on canvas 50 x 40 cm
step 1
Step 3
Step 5
Step 7
Step 1
I first need to establish an atmosphere in which lines of force can develop . Here , a question I asked to myself, what about yellows vs whites , seeing these colours as doors to opposites universes, and what happens when both abstract movements of the brush and design of a figure are allowed ...
Step 3
I am trying to destabilize the figure , and at the same time maintaining a balance through the background abstract movement
Step 5
Building the central figure and creating a space for a 'universe ' on the threshold
Step 7
Lights of Reds and Cold blues disturb the balance ideally, and i am going to reintroduce artificially a harmony , on the threshold through a wide and diffuse injection of green light
WORK IN PROGRESS : a step by step approach to my work
an oil painting on canvas, called
" Nothing to worry about..."
We all know, or should know, that the planet is undergoing changes, climatologic, technological, societal. Some people trust History and the quiet heritage of ancient traditions, having brought us here, however the situations of the past might have been. They see the world as coherent, or if not coherent, as a whole mix of good and bad, nothing to worry about. Some people , alarmed call the latter cynicals, they are trying to solve the present world's troubles, but are frightened, lost and confused. This painting is aiming at showing the two groups of opinions , as a scene ...
